It turns out that you and I (but mostly you) are criminals, as it is apparently illegal to lie in your dating profile.
A law written in…wait for it…1984 makes it a federal offense to break any website’s terms of service.
I joined February 4th, around 7 AM, and received a total of one vote, two winks, and six messages.
The messages were all nice, although one user messaged me three times.
In the suit, Doriana Silva of Toronto alleges she was hired to write Portuguese-language profiles for the Brazilian version of the site. Her job consisted of creating 1,000 “fake female profiles” in three weeks, to make men think there were more women willing to cheat with them than actually existed.
“The purpose of these profiles is to entice paying heterosexual male members to join and spend money on the website,” the suit says, according to Toronto's City News.
